What's Done in the Dark Will Come to Light
It's funny. I remember I was listening to Ariana Grande's "The Light is Coming" song when I wrote this poem. I basically wrote this poem as a warning to a loved one that no matter how hard you try to hide who you are, the truth will always find a way out. We are not meant to live a lie as human beings. We are meant to be free.
You're mad at me again
Because I won't give you what you want
You're a spoiled kid full of secrets
But nothing hides in the sunlight
Why do you cringe when I demand to know who you are?
Why do you hate yourself?
Why do you ask me to hurry when we hang out
But stall when it's time to go?
Why do you growl at passersby
When your arm is around me?
What are you afraid of?
Why are you hiding that big piece of yourself?
You want me to fix the issue for you
But I can't
I can't teach you how to love yourself
The way I am learning for myself
Know this--
The truth will set you free
And like an angry light
It doesn't enjoy being held captive
